Placement tests

Why do placement tests?

Before beginning your studies at LaSalle College, you will have to take a written language test to measure your skills in the language of instruction chosen, as well as a second language test. The results of this test will allow us to offer you a path adapted to your needs so that you can obtain your Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS). Please see the How and When to Take Those Tests section to see what applies to you.

Language courses are included in DCS programs because it is a requirement for graduation. They are particularly important in order to prepare you for the English Exit Exam. Please note that failure to pass the exam will prevent you from obtaining your diploma. This is why it is important to follow and pass the language course that will be adapted to your needs.

In most cases, you have already provided us with the results of a standardized language test (either IELTS or TOEFL) to finalize your admission to the College.

If this is the case, you will not have to take any others placement tests for your language of instruction.

If not, you will need to take a diagnostic test to confirm your language skills.

Second language
placement test

Your test for your second language will be done on the Teams platform. You will soon receive an invitation on your personal email address with the link to join the meeting. At this meeting, a link to a questionnaire will be sent to you to complete your test and you will have 1.5 hours to complete it.

It is important that you log in about 10 minutes before the test begins.

Don't forget that this test is mandatory.
